About Cory Q

I learned to sew at four, on my grandmother's antique Singer. It ran on a pedal, no electricity, so you made every stitch with your own two feet.

The first thing I made was a dress. I designed it myself, sewed it myself, and wore it to the airport to pick up my favorite aunt, who was flying in from California. I wanted her to see me before she saw anything else. I didn't have the words for it then, but I already understood the whole idea: what you wear says something, and you get to decide what.

At thirteen, my cousin Cynthia was modeling, and she gave me a subscription to Seventeen. That was it. I was hooked on fashion, with the budget of a girl in middle school. Which turned out to be the best education there is. When you can't buy the look, you learn to see what makes it work, and then you learn to make it yourself.

So I never stopped. Sewing classes in middle school. By high school I was designing and wearing my own clothes, which tells you most of what you need to know about me at sixteen. Later I became costume director of the New Mexico Ballet, where a costume has two jobs. It has to move, because a dancer will test every seam you sew. And it has to tell the story. The tutu has to match the dance, from the back row, with no words. Looking back, that was this whole site in one lesson: the clothes have to match what you're doing. Then I owned a made-to-order clothing company, where I learned the thing nobody tells you. Price has almost nothing to do with it. Fit has almost everything.

Today I'm a Commercial Real Estate Advisor. People trust me with some of the biggest decisions they'll ever make, and that trust starts before I say a word. It starts when I walk in. My clothes make the first introduction. I just make sure they say what I mean.

I believe in the law of attraction. The message you send with your outfit should match the outcome you want in your life. If you want to be taken seriously, look serious about it. If you want to be trusted with money, look like someone who takes care of things. That isn't vanity. It's asking for what you want, clearly, before you open your mouth.

That's what this site is. Not fashion. Alignment. I'll show you what your clothes are saying, and I'll help you make them say what you mean.

Your clothes speak before you do. Let's make sure they're saying what you mean.
